A peek in the day-to-day life of the Gnasher family.

It is near impossible to get a picture of the momma hummingbird that decided to make a nest about 18" from our front door. As soon as the front door makes a sqeak, she's off. The second a car pulls into the driveway - gone. I did manage to shoot a few pictures through our dining room window, but she's in a dark corner, so these are the best shots I can manage without setting up lighting and completely freaking her out. She has two tiny eggs and we saw this morning that at least one egg has hatched. Will attempt some shots of the babies, but not sure how much luck I will have.
Ah, the force is strong in one so young. We said to her, these are not the strawberries you are looking for, and with a flick of her wrist, she brushed us aside as if our powers were naught. The Longnecker genes run strong and the future of Goose Chubwalker will be ripe with adversity. Local grown or Organic Strawberries - how will she choose? We can only hope she does not use her power to turn to the dark side.

Jessica on her school field trip to Golf 'N Stuff in beautiful Norwalk . . . or was it Downey? Either way it was a special day full of bad cheese pizza, Skittles galore, and those special arcade games that require tokens a la Chuckie Cheese. Great fun was had by all, especially when the bus driver disappeared and was an hour late coming back to drive everyone home. Jessica was convinced that 'baddies' might have taken the bus driver, but mom worried that he might be in some tacky bar knocking back cold ones . . . so opted to drive Jessica back to school herself.
