PJ HAS BEEN FOUND!

After much research and many phone calls, we think we've found PJ - our new Cavalier King Charles puppy. We met PJ and her litter mates, and mom and dad today in Arcadia. We are IN LURVE with her already and we can bring her home at Thanksgiving. I suspect PJ will be starring on the blog once she arrives.

Jess Rocks the School Project

Jess had great fun doing one of the first big school projects for the year - The California Topographical Map. Working on assignments over seven nights, Jess created her map from clay, painted the elements, created a Map Key and a Compass Rose. Then she had to label the various locations. This was great fun for Jess since she was able to make mom keep HANDS OFF and uber-perfectionist mom had a bit of difficulty not participating. The final product was fabulous and grades in today were straight A. Well done Jess!! Well done school for creating projects that can actually be done by the kids, instead of the parents.

Trick-or-Treating 2009

Big thanks to Laura and Samantha for joining us tonight for trick-or-treating. (We missed you Bruce!) A great night and who knew how well tomato bisque would go with dark chocolate Reeses. A few neighbors really stepped up the decorations, but one house was so scary even Jess would not go to the door.

Lovin' The New School

And a quick moment to comment on how much I love the new school. A few shots taken whilst at the Halloween celebration. A very cool project was up in the hallway. All the students had a partner and they told the partner about themselves, and then they each had to write a story and illustrate each other. Loved it. It was a two-tissue moment.

School Halloween Celebrations

A festive half-day at school with Halloween games, parades, pizza lunch and parent participation. Great fun watching all the classes in a mini-parade in the gym. Then back to the classroom for lunch and the most amazing cupcakes I have ever seen. Not sure exactly what Jess was for Halloween, but it was some kind of goth fallen angel ensemble. Whatever she was, it was a very fun day and now the countdown until trick-or-treating begins.

Fun Shots From TPT

Jess had no shortage of fun at TPT this year. As I sift through the many thousands of shots, I'll pull the good ones of Jess (although, aren't they all good, I think they are). And big props to Sharon for dealing with giant flamingos. Those buggers did not want to stay inflated.

TPT Is Over For Another Year

We're back after our usual TPT hiatus. It's a Black Hole at the Nash house for 2-3 months, but another year is done and we look forward to getting back on the blog with photos. Coming soon . . . updates on the arrival of a Nash family addition - currently named PJ. We are on a quest to find the perfect Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - a tri-color female. No confirmed puppy yet, we have to find a good breeder, but we hope soon. Here's a pic of what we are looking for.

Halloween 2009

Halloween in Los Angeles wouldn't be complete without a trip to the pumpkin 'farm' in Culver City. Good fun with Addie getting pumpkins and feeding the livestock. More pics to come of our cool pumpkins once we finish carving.

Our First Soccer Season

Despite some strong protests, Adrian managed to convince Jess to join a soccer team this summer. After two practices and one game, Jess loves it. Skills need some work since we've never played, but having great fun learning the game.

How Many Cute Dogs are in New York City????

TOO MANY TO COUNT!!!

The Met (also titled "Can We Stop Walking Now?")

Tons of cool stuff to see at The Met, but really only scratched the surface today. Great fun walking around and looking at the art, ESPECIALLY the modern art. Luckily Jessica found Nigel's art lessons to be as amusing as Carroll. Very cranky guards everywhere. NO FLASH, NO FUN!!

New York Central Park

Finally got some time in Central Park without the rain. Jess enjoyed the rocks and the kids ran around a bit.

New York Day One

Good fun all round today, but damn busy. Up first thing this morning and can't help but wonder why Jess went to bed on Los Angeles time, but woke up on New York time. Evil, pure evil. Well, we headed off to visit Donna and stopped at The Barking Dog for breakfast - seemed appropriate for all who know Jess. Then found out Donna was rooming in the Burn Ward. I was worried for a moment that something had gone horribly, horribly wrong during surgery, but turns out there's just a bed shortage. Bummer though, no flowers or deliveries, and NO KIDS under 14. No pics of Donna in the hospital either as that would also be evil, pure evil. Anyway, after a visit with DC, off we went to the Natural History Museum. Did the fabu frog exhibit and Jess did some great photo duties, my favorite included here. Then upon exit from the museum, an amazing storm hit NY in a frenzy of thunder and lightening. No cabs to be found (that would stop for us mere tourists) so we 'rode' across Central Park and then walked back to DC's place. Soaked through and through, but a cool storm and not very cold. Jess and I stopped for smoothies along the way. Then we ran, late, to the Wright's for a family dinner of great NY pizza. So darn good and now wishing I'd snuck (sneaked?) some leftovers home to munch while I do late emails. Night night all. Day two coming up.

Prince Eric Comes to Camp Nash

The Nash family had the pleasure of hosting Prince Eric of Redondo Beach for a few days while his family was away from the kingdom in Lake Arrowhead. To say Jess had a good time was putting it mildly. P-Eric went EVERYWHERE with us. To a softball game at Cheviot Hills, to Starbucks for lattes, to Bagel Broker, to Toppings for frozen yogurt, to Aunt Jerri's house in Pasadena for a visit with Jessica's cousins. We had many walks, lots of sniffing and territory marking (safely outside) and a ton of couch time. Not sure who was more tired at night, Eric or us.

The Room Finale

No pics here yet. The stenciling is still underway. Check back for the big finale shortly.
